Puglia Travel Report

The Puglia coastline has sandy beaches backed by dunes or agricultural land with olive groves. The beaches stretch for miles and can seldom become crowded. They shelve very gently into the sea. Most are uncommercialised but hotels have sunbeds, parasols and sport facilities. There are a number of small ports still used by fishing boats. |

Hotel del Levante Torre Canne. Most rooms have balcony and sea view. Well worth the supplement. Nice terrace with beach bar. Direct access to beach. |
The sandy beach at Torre Canne. Plenty of water activities including pedalos with a slide attached, canoes and dingeys. |

The port of Savelletri. Most of the restaurants on the coast specialise in locally caught fish. Pasta (with fish flavour) is also on offer, salad and chips if requested.

Behind the beaches the quiet rural nature of the area is apparent with attractive olive groves and vineyards. |

Conclusion: Mass tourism has not yet reached Puglia. There are few concessions for foreign visitors who should be ready to accept the Italian life style. For people who want to feel abroad on holiday without a long flight, this destination is hard to beat. For advice on travel to this region contact Transit Management. |
